Welcome New SR Staff!

This year we welcome seven new staff members to the Stone Ridge family:

Denise Ashmore--A graduate of Oklahoma State University, Mrs. Ashmore comes to us from Putnam City, where she taught second grade for the last eight years.  Mrs. Ashmore states that her main goal is for each child that enters her classroom feels supported and loved. Mrs. Ashmore already loves being a part of Piedmont because “everyone is welcoming and the number one priority here is to do what’s best for kids.”

Sharla Autry--Graduating from Missouri State University, Ms. Autry taught for seven years in Carlsbad, New Mexico.  This summer she moved to Oklahoma to be closer to family. Ms. Autry tells of the moment she knew she wanted to be a teacher--she was in third grade and remembers her teacher being so excited when she learned the multiplication facts.  She strives to be that kind of teacher-- one who demonstrates how much she cares about her students.

Laurie Blankenship--Mrs. Blankenship joins the Stone Ridge staff as Computer Aide.  She transferred from Piedmont Intermediate where she served as a paraprofessional.  For the past several years she was a dedicated volunteer at Stone Ridge and served as our recess monitor.  Mrs. Blankenship has a background in producing, shooting and editing television and radio commercials and is a graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma.

Bridget Bredy--Our new Speech Language Pathologist is Bridget Bredy.  Mrs. Bredy graduated from the University of Oklahoma. For the past ten years she has been a SLP in the OKC school system.  Mrs. Bredy loves being a SLP because every child is different; she enjoys the challenge of developing just the right plan for each one.  Her first priority is to develop a good relationship with her students in order to maximize therapy time.

Katie Carroway--Ms. Carroway graduated from Piedmont High School in 2013 and from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2017.  Although this is her first full-time teaching assignment, she is certainly not a stranger to Stone Ridge. For the past six years she has worked in our after-school childcare program.  For three of those years she was also a regular substitute in the building. Ms. Carroway describes herself as a “product of 13 years of incredible Piedmont teachers” and is proud she will be  continue to be a part of Piedmont Schools.

Linda Key--Mrs. Key has been teaching for 17 years.  Most recently she was a Title I teacher in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.  Mrs. Key is a graduate of Carson-Newman College in Tennessee. Mrs. Key will fill the new position of interventionist, splitting her time between Stone Ridge and Piedmont Elementary.  Being the interventionist appeals to Mrs. Key because she enjoys searching for “another way” to try to help a student who is struggling.

Candy Schrack--Mrs. Schrack is actually coming home.  She has taught for eight years, five of them here at Stone Ridge.  She has spent the past several years at home with her children, home-schooling as well as operating a home-based daycare.  Mrs. Schrack prides herself in getting to know each student in order to meet their unique needs. She is excited to be a part of the Stone Ridge family--again.
